Teaching & Technology

Favorite Technology September 6, 2008

When I started to think about my favorite technology a few things came to my mind…my computer, cell phone, and PDA. All of these are things I use every day with my job, school, and for pleasure. Most of all though, my cell phone is used hours a day.

So many people have cell phones that we are able to communicate to almost anyone, any time of the day. We are much more accessible than years ago when they didn’t exhist. Not only do working adults have cell phones,so do teenagers and even children. When I think about myself back in high school, which was only a few years ago, it was such a common scene for a teenager to get their cell phone taken away. In the schools, cell phones can cause more trouble than good sometimes.

I saw an article on-line from a website based in Tampa Bay, Florida.  In Manatee County, teachers are able to read students text messages and view pictures if they are thought to have cheated. This can really be a good resource and a way to discourage students from cheating. Here is the link:

Cell phones are also an advantage in the teaching atmosphere. Teachers are able to contact parents quicker and easier than before. Cell phones can also be incorporated as a lesson to be used as a homework assignment as shown in this website. Students can take pictures for certain discussion topics and then bring them to class.

Overall, I still would say that cell phones are a great piece of technology. One that I certainly could not live without. I love my LG chocolate phone!

I work in the wireless industry and I think a lot of people share your admiration of cell phones….especially me! Cell phones are as diverse as people. It’s funny because there are people like you that loooove the LG Chocolate, but others that return it within hours of buying it!
